Vacationing

[Continuing this thread, in which Spy has convinced Engineer to spend a vacation with him. Fishing, fine dining, and some enemy bonding ensue.


Engineer steps into the elevator, hitting the button for their floor, pulling at his collar to loosen that next button.]

Hey, thanks again for the dinner and the suit. I'll have to put it to use some other time to justify your spendin' money on all this.

Not particularly. They help me do my job better, though. Helps keep the team alive.

[Spy snuggles up under the blankets, making sure all of him is covered.]

Good night Engineer.

Good night to you too, partner.

[He's up for another ten minutes or so before he finally turns off the light and goes to sleep himself. It turns out the beds really aren't too bad at all.]

[Spy is asleep quickly, full of good food and having had a full day. The morning will find him half under the covers, but sprawled out so he's taking up the entire bed diagonally, the pillow cuddled against his chest as he sleeps.

It may be daylight according to the window, but Spy is very much not awake.]

[Calling what dim light there is coming through the window "daylight" is pretty generous, at best.

Engineer is up and at 'em early in the morning, getting things ready before he bothers waking up Spy, moving as quietly as possible. He's already got a set of waders sitting on his bed for his companion, as well as two rods. As for himself, he's back in his normal overalls, though is wearing boots better made for trekking through mud.

He stands next to Spy's bed and puts a hand to his shoulder to wake him.]

Hey, Spy?

[not_onyourside]

[Spy reacts as if Engie stabbed him in the shoulder, backing away until he falls off the bed with a yelp, dragging all the sheets and blankets with him. He groans and rubs his head, realizing far too late where he is and who he's with.]

Eet cannot possibly be morning yet.

[Engineer grimaces, pulling his hand back.]

You all right there, partner?

[not_onyourside]

Fine.

[All evidence to the contrary as he struggles to get out of the blanket cocoon he's made.]

What time ees eet?

About half past five.

Oh good, zhe fish will still be sleeping and we can simply pick zhem up.

[He finally gets out of the mess he's created, putting the sheets back on the bed and tugging his twisted pajamas back into place to make sure they cover all the way down to his wrists.

He goes to his luggage, rifling through it for something appropriate for fishing.]

I will be ready shortly. Eef I do not shower you will be conversing wez my sleeping body.

Alrighty. Just make it quick- we want to be out there before the sun comes up.

[ He's shaved and showered and dressed a while later. His shower was quick as he could make it and still be able to wake up. And it turns out he has non suit things to wear, such as the deep red striped button up shirt he's wearing open with a plain longsleeve shirt under it and a pair of black pants that actually look somewhat casual. For a Spy anyway. ]

I see you have been busy zhis morning. Did you sleep at all?

A little. Guess I was excited about that fishin'. Even got you some waders to wear, since I didn't figure you'd want muddy water all over those nice pants of yours.

Some whats?

[ He has no idea what you're talking about Engie. ]

Eet has been a while zhen? You see? You needed zhis vacation.

[sentryslinger]

I apparently did.

[He heads over to his bed and picks up what looks like a set of boots that blend into a pair of overalls.]

These'll keep the mud off ya.

[not_onyourside]

What -- What ees zhis.

[Spy takes the outfit, holding it gingerly as if it might be contagious.]

I am supposed to wear zhis?

Well, yeah.

[Though he gets the feeling from Spy's tone that he won't.]

[He's staring at it like it might bite.]

Do I wear eet over my own pants?

[sentryslinger]

Yeah. Though I suppose you don't have to. Wouldn't feel very good if you didn't though, I'll tell you that.

[not_onyourside]

[He eyes Engineer strangely, trying to determine if this is some sort of elaborate joke. They feel thick and strange, and having shoes attached to his trousers is something he never considered might exist.

Not getting mud on his own clothes would be good, but this ...]

Very well. But only because you are choosing what we do today and you let me dress you yesterday.

[He sits on the bed to pull these ridiculous things on, unsure how to work the top half with all the straps.]

[Engineer can tell he's inexperienced with coveralls, and goes to help him pull the straps over his shoulders to attach them to the front.]

It was either these, or we went out and picked you a whole set of new clothes to wear on this outing. I figured these would be the less painless option.

Ees anywhere even open at zhis hour?

[Help him Engie, or he'll have these twisted and inside out. When it's all on he stands uncertainly, clomping around in the rubbery shoes.]

Just a few places that sold this kind of gear. They're used to early business.

[He grabs the poles and a bucket from the floor- tucked into the bucket is some ice and a few beers.]
