Vacationing

[Continuing this thread, in which Spy has convinced Engineer to spend a vacation with him. Fishing, fine dining, and some enemy bonding ensue.


Engineer steps into the elevator, hitting the button for their floor, pulling at his collar to loosen that next button.]

Hey, thanks again for the dinner and the suit. I'll have to put it to use some other time to justify your spendin' money on all this.

The Northern Lights. The Aurora Borealis? Don't tell me you've never heard of it.

It's a light display up in the sky, like the stars puttin' on a show. All these beautiful colors lightin' up the heavens. You can only see it from certain places in the world, and one of 'em is up in Alaska.

Yeah. It's hard to describe, but boy, what a sight.

Somethin' about the magnetism of the poles, I believe.

If I ever go see 'em, you could come, if you're interested.

I would be very interested. But I believe we'd need quite a few weeks off work een order to drive to Alaska.

Yeah. We'll save that one for a longer vacation.

[From the look of the landscape, they're getting close to home already.]

We can work up to zhat one. Assuming we do not drive each ozzer crazy een zhe meantime.

[He frowned at the familiar scenery, wanting to stretch this vacation out as long as possible.]

We haven't driven each other crazy yet. I'm feelin' optimistic.

[He pulls up to the gate of Engineer's base, driving along the ditch around front to park under the same tree from before.]

I have a good feeling about zhis.

[He's happy to get out of the car once it comes to a stop under that tree -- not that he thought you were a bad driver, Spy, but your car is a little compact for his wide frame.]

[He climbs out as well, leaning against the hood as he lights another cigarette.]

Eet looks like you beat everyone home.

[He looks around, sighing.]

Sure did. At least that'll give me time to fix that sink before anyone notices I was gone.

[He nods and smiles.]

It has, Spy.

[He goes for a handshake, but he's going to pull you in for a hug. Come here, buddy.]

[He stiffens, slightly surprised, and then hugs him back.]

I shall be seeing you Labourer.

[Sorry Spy, he's a hugger.]

We'll see, partner.

[He tips his hardhat and grabs his suitcase, and into the base he goes. He will be seeing you, Spy -- he just doesn't know when.]
