[Continuing this thread, in which Spy has convinced Engineer to spend a vacation with him. Fishing, fine dining, and some enemy bonding ensue.


Engineer steps into the elevator, hitting the button for their floor, pulling at his collar to loosen that next button.]

Hey, thanks again for the dinner and the suit. I'll have to put it to use some other time to justify your spendin' money on all this.

[ He gets comfy behind Engineer, sitting with his legs on either side of him, barely touching Engie's. He gets to work massaging his neck and shoulders, that lecherous grin still in place. ]

You needed zhat nap. Tomorrow we will be back home and not get as much nap time, best to fit it in now.

[Engineer rolls his shoulders against Spy's hands, trying to help get some of the tension out. He sure does have a knot in his neck.]

I might catch one before the rest of the boys get home. That's assuming Pyro and Demo ain't back by the time I get there.

[He kneads against Engineer's neck trying to work the tension out.]

I feel like zhat ees somezzing zhey overlooked when building zhe bases.

I've been at a base with rooms tough enough to take a blast or two, but this one ain't —

[He interrupts his explanation as Spy works his muscles, uttering a "right there" under his breath.]

— ain't built for that sort of thing. Maybe they didn't start off with a Demoman.

[Spy closes his eyes and curses under his breath before continuing. He needs quite a few cold showers after this.]

We could use wez some rebuilding zhen. I for one would like to sleep wezzout having bits of ceiling falling down when Soldier shoots off a rocket een his room.

[In good news, the shower is only a few feet away, and Engie has already been in there. He was naked in there, Spy. Nude. Completely in the buff.]

You could get yourself a camper, like Sniper.

And live een a van? I zhink not.

[ He will be considering all those facts when he's in there later, never you fear.]

A better and easier option would be to make Soldier live een a bunker somewhere off base.

It would, but picture this: you get one of those travel trailers and put it out somewhere. You know, away from the base, but close enough to drive to. Decorate it how you want, have yourself some privacy. And if they do move you somewhere else, you just attach it to that fancy car of yours and drive it away.

[Some of that sounds okay, except the part where he'd have a trailer hitch on his Corvette and that seems like a sin.]

Oui, but how much easier would eet be for zhem to kill me een my sleep off base where no one could notice?

Probably no easier than it already is, and you wouldn't have to worry about Soldier blowin' you to smithereens or takin' out his temper on you.

[He glances over his shoulder.]

The Soldier at your base isn't doin' that, right?

Well not currently.

[Meaning not at this moment when he's here and not at the base. But let's not dwell on that, he moves from massaging Engie's neck to his shoulders.]

You stop worrying about zhat and focus on relaxing. You are incredibly tense.

You didn't deserve to be treated like that. No man does, but especially not by his own damn teammates.

[So much for relaxing. His shoulders tense as his fingers curl in on themselves, the Gunslinger whirring as it balls into a fist.]

And I got you into that.

Zhis ees zhe opposite of relaxing mon ami.

[ He pulls his hands back sensing that he's losing the mood. ]

You need not be angry on my behalf.

I know. And I shouldn't be, but I guess I just can't help it sometimes. Some things just aren't right, and there's not a thing I can do about 'em.

[He sighs heavily, his hands relaxing as he reaches around to rub his neck. He's still tense back there, but it's more from the thought of his own shortcomings than anything.]

Do you care about everyone zhis much?

[How about a hug. That'll fix it right? Especially when Engie is barely wearing clothes.]

Zhere are many zhings een life we cannot change, zhough I suppose I also try needlessly. Still, zhis ees a holiday and zhe point ees to relax and not zhink about eet.

[He could probably use one, though he's more used to them coming from Pyro. He nods, leaving Spy's question unanswered as he replies.]

You're right. It's in my nature to solve problems, so even if I can't change something, I'm probably gonna try at least a few times. Call me stubborn like that.

But you're tryin' to help, and it'd be rude if I kept dwellin' on this. I'm sorry, Spy. I'll have to face my demons eventually, but I'll work on them another day. You let me teach you how to fish, so the least I can do is learn a thing or two about how to relax.

[ He smiles, resuming his massage. ]

You do not need to be sorry. After all zhis ees all new to you yes? Small steps.

[He returns Spy's smile.]

[It's ten or so seconds later before he rolls his shoulders again, stifling a groan. A little closer to the neck, Spy.]

You're not bad at this, you know that?

I told you, skilled een many zhings. Zhough I am sorely out of practice.

[ He's going to remember the sound of that groan till the day he dies. ]

Well, you aren't doin' bad for it, I'll tell you that. Can't remember the last time I had one of these.

I would be happy to be your personal masseuse available at your beck and call.

[That gets a laugh from him, one that shakes the bed.]

You'd have to move into my workshop for all the times I'd need you.

Eef you are going to feed me and I do not have to die daily I would gladly live een your workshop.

[Honestly that sounds wonderful.]

How are you feeling now?

Much better, thanks to you. I could have you do this all night if I didn't know how much you like sleepin'.

Eets like you know me already even zhough we've only been here for a few days.

[He wraps an arm around Engineers chest and gently drags him back against the bed.]

And you should sleep as well so I do not have a snoring lump as company when we drive back to zhe base.
