Engineer steps into the elevator, hitting the button for their floor, pulling at his collar to loosen that next button.]

Hey, thanks again for the dinner and the suit. I'll have to put it to use some other time to justify your spendin' money on all this.

My contraptions might be worth something to someone other than our bosses. I'm pretty sure of that.

What I meant was if the rest of the team would get along. We come from all different backgrounds, all kinds of places. If we'd met somewhere that wasn't the battlefield, what would we do?

I am not sure we ever would meet. But for zhe sake of argument, I zhink some of us would get along. Soldier and Medic .. not so much.

I don't see Soldier gettin' along with anyone, though he and Demoman apparently did.

Demo and Sniper. They can swap stories about what their mamas would have them do instead of whatever career it is they've chosen for themselves.

Except that I don't think either of them could stand the boy for more than ten minutes atta time.

No one can but his mozzer. But eef we were not on a team wez him, we would not have to deal wez him. We could just leave and he could go play wez people his own age.

I wonder how far he'd get without a job like this, honestly. He's just a kid sometimes, but I get the feelin' he's hiding a lot under there. Probably hidin' just as much as the rest of us.

I meant fears. Insecurities. Things he wishes he could do, but can't for the life of him.

For how much he talks I would be surprised eef he had any secrets at all.

Of course not. I just have trouble imagining Scout being subtle.

I'm sure he can be when he's not tryin' to show off to the rest of us.

I suppose he has his moments.

We are all more zhan what we seem, merely because we are more zhan what our jobs entail. We would all get along much better eef we remembered we were people.

[That gets a hearty laugh from him, one so strong it nearly knocks him from his seat on the log. It's just as well -- he gets to his feet so they can keep moving.]
