[Continuing this thread, in which Spy has convinced Engineer to spend a vacation with him. Fishing, fine dining, and some enemy bonding ensue.


Engineer steps into the elevator, hitting the button for their floor, pulling at his collar to loosen that next button.]

Hey, thanks again for the dinner and the suit. I'll have to put it to use some other time to justify your spendin' money on all this.

Een any case, we are discussing zhings to do years from now, instead of zhings to do at zhe present.

[He finishes up his breakfast, rubbing at his eyes with a few fingers.]

And what is it you'd like to do at the present?

I was zhinking of going for a walk. You had mentioned a movie. At some point I am going to try and get you into bed so zhat you can have a nap because I am sure you slept terribly last night.

Tell you what: let's take a walk to the theater, see what's playin', then we'll go from there.

[He stacks his empty plates back on the tray before going to root through his luggage.]

But first a shower. Ozzerwise I will be worzhless during zhe day.

I'll go ahead and find somethin' to wear. Don't think I oughtta be goin' out like this, huh?

[And how he enjoyed it.]

At least they'd never see us again, outside of this weekend.

Eef you wish to walk around een your undergarments, I will not stop you.

[With one last barely contained leer he heads into the shower to get cleaned up. Visions of Engineer in his underpants dancing around his head.]

[Engie doesn't notice as he heads to his clothes, trying to figure out what's clean enough to wear. Spoiler: he doesn't have tons of different outfits- mostly just more overalls and more shirts, though at least the one he grabs is plaid this time.

On go his goggles, hung around his neck, though he leaves his gloves and helmet for now. They are just going to a movie theater, after all.]

[Spy emerges from the bathroom looking stylish in another suit. He's wearing the jacket open and not wearing a vest, which is about as casual as Spy ever gets.]

Always wez zhe goggles oui?

You have your suits, and I've got my goggles.

I suppose I cannot deny zhat.

At least eet has stopped raining. Everyzzing smells nice after zhe rain; clean and refreshed.

Depends on where you are, Spy. It's ain't always so clean and refreshed so much as it is muggy in some areas.

[He opens the door for his companion.]

Muggy? As een humid?

Zhat sounds terrible.

[His suits might mold. The horror!]

You ain't likely to find that around here. Too dry. Somewhere like the southern U.S. though, that's what you'll get after rains, and that's if it rains.

If you can take the heat, I think you'd like it there.

I do not like zhe rain. But I do not zhink I would like humidity eizzer.

How hot ees eet? Remember how many layers I am wearing.

If you went during colder weather, you'd make it. I promise it'd be worth your while- they've got some of the best food around in that region.

[And Engineer has said the magic words. Spy perks up immediately.]

Lots of fried stuff in the northern part of the south, but if you travel down the Mississippi, you'll end up in Louisiana, where the spices flow freely. Ever had gumbo?

Non. I have never heard of eet. What ees eet?

And fried what?

It's kind of like a stew, but thicker and spicier. Everything's hotter down there, even the dishes.

In terms of what they've got fried, if you think of it, they've put it in a fryer. Some things ain't meant to be that way, but if you ask me, it's about the only way to eat okra.

I do not know what okra ees, but spicy stew sounds good. I like spicy.

It's a vegetable. I'll introduce ya to it, one day.
