[Continuing this thread, in which Spy has convinced Engineer to spend a vacation with him. Fishing, fine dining, and some enemy bonding ensue.


Engineer steps into the elevator, hitting the button for their floor, pulling at his collar to loosen that next button.]

Hey, thanks again for the dinner and the suit. I'll have to put it to use some other time to justify your spendin' money on all this.

I do like the beach. My Gunslinger, not so much. A cabin might be homey, though.

[He runs through, uttering a thanks to Spy as he shakes water from his shoes.]

[Probably for the best. Spy being on the beach would pose several problems. The first being his refusal to take off any of his layers for any reason.]

A cabin might be nice. I am sure zhe snow would not be so bad eef we had shelter and blankets and hot cocoa.

So long as we're not stuck in a warehouse again, it'll be an upgrade.

[Time to wait for the elevator. The clerk at the desk nods to them in greeting, recognizing them. Kind of hard to forget those two.]

[He smiles to the clerk before getting on the elevator.]

I would not mind going sledding again, zhough not on a dispenser.

About zhe same as he feels about communists and hippies and foreigners. So I am glad he does not spend zhat much time on zhe base.

Better him than us, then. I'm bettin' if he got a hold of me, I'd be tied up in the basement, maybe tortured for information before he'd blow me to smithereens.

I know you say that, but I don't want you makin' enemies out of your team. I'd get out of it somehow.

Because it's likely to get ya fired, killed, or both. It certainly won't make life any easier for you if you get caught in a situation like that.

Well no. But I fail to see how eet could be much harder for me. I already am not supposed to leave zhe base, nor show my face, or interact wez my teammates.

I am practically a prisoner.

[His brow furrows as his mouth stretches into a wide frown, but he keeps whatever is on his mind at that second to himself.]

[That does pick him up a little, if the small smile he gives means anything. He does hope to get out someday, even if it is a statistical impossibility.

But he's bringing down the mood and he knows it. Marvel as Mr. Practical tries to fix that.]

Well partner, we're rained in again. I don't know about you, but I'm thinkin' a hot shower or bath might help me relax enough to get a good night's sleep this time. I'd suggest seein' if a place this fancy has a hot tub, but you don't strike me as the type who'd strip down enough to get into one, 'specially in a place where people might see ya.

[He flops onto the bed, contorting himself into a pretzel in order to unlace his shoes without getting up.]

Zhough I am starting to zhink we may be zhe only ozzer guests here.

With the kind of money we make, we could probably afford to rent the whole place if we wanted.

I wonder how suspicious zhat would be.

[He kicks his shoes off, sprawling across the whole bed.]

Maybe next time we can get a room zhat has a Jacuzzi een eet. Or adjoins a pool.

Maybe. Or make sure that if we rent a cabin somewhere that it come with one.

[He digs through his clothes, taking off his Gunslinger and tossing it onto the other bed.]

Just going to grab a quick shower. I'll be out in a minute.

[Visions of snuggling in a private hot tub dancing in his head.

He flopped over so he could watch the rain outside. On the one hand it was keeping them inside and spoiling all the things they could be doing outside, like walking on the beach at sunset. But it was facilitating strip poker and potential cuddling. So just this once Spy would forgive it.]

[They might have to try the beach some other day. Engie would like a sunset walk.

Speaking of Engie, into the shower he goes. He turns the heat up, the sounds of the shower mingling with that of the rain outside. It's not a torrential downpour or a thunderstorm threatening to knock the power out, but it's enough to disrupt plans all the same.

Not that they had any plans. Disrupting their vacation is more like it, so relaxing in the hotel will have to do, unfortunately.

He's in the shower for several minutes, his exit announced by steam billowing from the doorway. He's only got boxers on as he rounds the corner, his skin red from a light scalding -- it's too hot for a shirt at the moment. He flops onto the other bed, grabbing his Gunslinger to reattach it.]

Woowhee! I don't think we get water that hot at the base.

[He narrowed his eyes at the mostly naked Engineer just casually strolling around, taking a moment to compose himself before responding.]

Perhaps you could do somezzing about zhat. Water heaters seem to be your specialty after all.
