[Continuing this thread, in which Spy has convinced Engineer to spend a vacation with him. Fishing, fine dining, and some enemy bonding ensue.


Engineer steps into the elevator, hitting the button for their floor, pulling at his collar to loosen that next button.]

Hey, thanks again for the dinner and the suit. I'll have to put it to use some other time to justify your spendin' money on all this.

[He flicks his cigarette and then follows Engie along the shoreline.]

As I said, we've all got 'em. I probably have more than you think.

Oh no, I have no doubt about your mysteries. I just need more time to uncover zhem.

Well, you have only known me for a handful of scattered out days. I'd say you probably know more about me than I know about you, even if I have seen more of you than most fellas.

Well hiding ees part of my job and being mysterious ees charming.

Maybe for some people. I've never been a fan of mysteries, myself.

No? Well some people find it alluring.

I guess that's why you've had more luck with the ladies than me. Maybe I should give bein' less open a try.

Well, I'd better bury some ghosts and put aside all reservations I've got regardin' civilians, otherwise I'm gonna have no one to practice my technique on but you.

Civilians are just people mon ami. You would be surprised who might warm up to you eef you only tried.

I still say it's better for everyone involved if we got as few civilians as possible mixed up with us, but maybe I'll change my mind one of these days.

You'll just have to put up with me until then. Hope you don't mind.

With every blueprint I've written, other plans have either gotten left behind or just plain forgotten. I've got a few ideas, but nothin' I'm so attached to that I wouldn't budge if I met the one.

[He concentrates on the end of his cigarette instead of looking at anything in particular.]

[He raises an eyebrow, waiting. When Spy doesn't seem to be continuing, he gives him a little nudge.]

I am a complex man wez very simple tastes.

I just want someone who will let me cook for zhem and keep me warm at nights. Zhe difficulty ees finding someone who does not mind what I am.

[Someone with overalls convenient for tugging around is a bonus.]

You mean someone who won't mind that you're a mercenary? A hired gun?
