Bonfire
Who: RED Pyro (
notintehkitchen) & BLU Engineer (
sentryslinger)
When & Where: Nighttime at the Coaltown Barracks
Why: For a bonfire!
Status: Ongoing
[Getting assigned to a new base was nothing unusual for Engineer: he'd been moved from one place to another his entire career, never spending too long in one location. It was a hard job being a builder, but one he enjoyed enough to stay when many others in his position would have quit long ago.
However, getting assigned to a base full of REDs was a new experience. With the war between RED and BLU ending in a truce where the teams combined forces to fight wave after wave of Gray Mann's robot legions, it was inevitable that he'd eventually end up on a team with a RED or two. What he hadn't expected was to be the only BLU there, the rest of his comrades his former enemies.
Engineer was the sort to get along though, and a man who took first impressions seriously. He'd done well on the battlefield the past few days, trying to acclimate to his new coworkers. The Heavy was as friendly as any he'd met on BLU, the Medic just as skittish, the Scout just as boisterous. Demoman wasn't far from his BLU counterpart either, despite the claim of how few one-eyed, cyclopean Scotsmen there were in the world.
The problem arose when work was done and it was time to head home for the night. The REDs mostly kept to themselves- to them, he was still a newcomer, just barely above the robots they fought in terms of trust. It was going to take time for them to treat him like one of the team. He knew that much from all the bases he'd been transferred to during his career.
That was why he decided to start small, and with someone he was definitely going to be working with on a close basis: the Pyro. Judging by the fact that the rest of the REDs had eerily resembled BLUs he'd worked with in the past, he felt it was a safe bet that the Pyro wasn't too distant from ones he'd seen, either.
And that was the reason he'd invited her to a bonfire a short distance from the barracks. He figured he couldn't go wrong with that.]

Jell-o is very possessive.
If Engineer looked down to read, he would come across the following words together: MaTEMoTHeRYoU?DIE.]
His accent is strong with certain letters.
Oh dear.
Strong might be an understatement, but at least he ain't all that hard to figure out. You can practically read the boy's mind most of the time. It ain't that easy with some of the others.

[And she could be the same age, it's not like she goes around asking the other's anything too personal. That would be nosy.]
At least he's honest with his feelings.

[Looking towards the bonfire, she still had it in the back of her mind that it was unbelievable to think she wasn't going crazy at that moment. As a filthy arsonist everybody \would be pretty ashamed of her right now.]

[Placing her hands on her cheeks, she then crossed her legs.]
Although... for someone like me, being able to have my mask off now is a pretty big change and allows me to have companionship of sorts--but it's obvious I lied.

[Only because she has total idol worship for Engineers.]

Bad enough that it keeps me up some nights. We've all got our demons, though. You just learn to either ignore 'em or get along with 'em. Not much you can do about it either way.
[He gets himself another hot dog, emptying the package as he puts the last of them on the skewers over the flames.]
no subject
Well! I'm going to keep you up for other reasons.
[There was a pause, long enough to be awkward for anyone who had half a brain to think about double meanings as Pyro reached into her suit and pulled out a large bottle of liquor with foreign writing on it.]
It's not as strong as Demo's buuuut.... ta-da! Sake!
[She didn't drink very often but with her weight she thought she'd probably be alright. All her comrades really enjoyed drinking it seemed.]
no subject
Can't say I've ever had that before. You sure it's okay to share with a BLU?

[With a nod of her head, she pulls out very small delicate looking cups. Holding two in her hands, she fills them up and hands one over to him.]
I hope you like it! Kanpai!
no subject
[He takes the cup, waiting for her to drink before he takes a sip himself.]

[Downing it all in one gulp, she then winces a bit and flails a hand in front of her mouth. Okay, she wasn't as good with this as she thought.]
Haha! It burns!
no subject
Phew! Not sure that would've been any better had it been cold.
dat feel when you have to flip the cup upside down for her to understand to stop
[Alcohol was alcohol, nothing tasted that great unless it was vodka mixed with juice.
Taking the bottle and filling both her and Engineer back up, she did so without asking due to customs in her country saying if one's glass was empty one should refill it.]
Too bad he's not super familiar with Japanese customs. ;)
[One more won't hurt, surely. Bottom's up, Pyro!]
Hehe. xD She just wants to look cool in front of Engie.
I should be thankful I haven't had Demo's scrumpy yet.
[Shivering a bit from the second burn, she could start to feel her cheeks redden some. Pyro was still trying to figure out how anyone fought better while intoxicated while going for the third round.]
no subject
[He'll take this over scrumpy any day. He's pretty sure the main ingredient in Demo's favorite drink is battery acid.]
no subject
[She was a lady afterall, even if she forgot about it or was trying her best to forget that part of her.]
Sake is fine then! Screw that!
[Saaaaaaaay hello to the 4th drink! Is her language getting a little loose? She can't be bothered, she's feeling nice and warm and totally comfortable being next to Engie at the moment.]
no subject
It's just a phrase, Pyro. If it wasn't, Scout would have probably stolen every bit Demo has long ago.
no subject
[This was going weird places fast. Pyro didn't seem ashamed about mentioning her lack of assets.]
Not that it's a bad thing 'cuz um... I don't have to keep bras around this place so nothing awkward happens.
[Like now.]
no subject
Well, I think I'm going to be the cruel one and say you've probably had just about enough of that for the night.
no subject
[Making a little pout, she turns her head and tries to drink the remainder in the cup at the very least.]
Engineer can't be cruel, there's no way. I can't see that at all. T-that's why... he probably has... lots of girlfriends and stuff and Scout is jealous, huh? I bet!
